Ocean Grove is a popular holiday seaside town destination in Victoria.

Ocean Grove is a seaside town and a popular surfing spot that is under a two-hour drive from Melbourne. The Victorian town is worth visiting for a day or a quick weekend getaway.

You could also easily stay here for the night before taking on your journey along the Great Ocean Road! But here is a selection of things you can do in Ocean Grove whether you’re here for a day or a short holiday.

Ocean Grove Beach

Ocean Grove Beach is the main beach in the town and a great way to spend the day in the water or relaxing on the sand. Most people will come out here to do some surfing and you can even learn how to surf with Ocean Grove Surf Lessons.

Lookout Reserve

The Lookout Reserve has beautiful coastal views where you can spend an evening having a picnic and watching the sunset. There is also a playground for the kids to enjoy.

Barwon Heads Bridge

Barwon Heads Bridge is what connects Ocean Grove to Barwon Heads. There are also actually two bridges, one to drive across and one you can walk across! The one you can walk across is the William Buckley Pedestrian Bridge.

The bridge we see today was opened in 2010 after the original 1927 bridge was deteriorated in 2006. The original bridge was in the 90s TV show, SeaChange. While the new bridge was in the TV show, Tomorrow When The War Began.

Ocean Grove Nature Reserve

The Ocean Grove Nature Reserve is a grassy woodland area that makes a great spot for hiking and birdwatching. There are four easy walking tracks that range between 20 minutes to an hour and a half.

Adventure Park

A short drive from Ocean Grove is Victoria’s largest water park, Adventure Park! The water theme park is the place to be during summer with some of the best waterslides and action rides.

From mid-November to the end of December it’ll feel like Christmas with a sea of Christmas lights, displays, and rides at the Christmas Lights Festival. You can expect a lights maze, have your photo taken with Santa, a four-metre tall reindeer and so much more!

You can reach Ocean Grove from Melbourne by taking the Vline train to Marshall Railway Station. From the station, you can get a bus towards Ocean Grove. Some buses run through Ocean Grove to get you around the town.
