The Great Ocean Road is a sprawling wonderland of lush eucalyptus forests, stunning beaches and unforgettable experiences.

From Torquay’s world famous surf to Port Campbell’s bizarre natural formations and Lorne’s elegant galleries, the Great Ocean Road is a sublime stretch of coastline that makes for the ideal Victorian getaway!

One of the Great Ocean Road’s most serene dreamlands is that of the Great Otway National Park, one of Australia’s most gorgeous for that matter. The national park is the ideal place to experience some of the activities that make the Great Ocean Road such an unforgettable journey, with these adventures awaiting you once you get amongst its towering eucalyptus trees:

Koala spotting

The Otways are famous for housing one of Australia’s largest koala populations, with these adorable little tree hangers cruising around the forest branches in search of leaves and a little endless RnR.

Luckily for us, this makes the Otways one of the best places to catch a glimpse of these little critters, especially if you traverse the Otways in the day’s twilight hours (they are more active at this time!).

See the giant Redwoods

Californian Redwoods hold the awesome title of growing to be the world’s tallest trees. Whilst this is especially so in California, where the trees are native and ancient, they are also incredibly prominent in the Otways!

Like any good Redwood forest, you can wander amongst their giant trunks, taking in their mystical beauty and impressive majesty as you go. This is as close as you’ll get to the Californian forests in this hemisphere, so it’s totally worth the look!

Melba Gully glow worms

Seeing a glow worm population illuminating the night is one of life’s most enchanting natural experiences. Thankfully, people travelling the Otways can experience this stunning light show in the Otways’ Melba Gully.

Wait until dark and make your way into the Gully, taking in the beauty of this incredible phenomenon which is all the more magical if you have the place to yourself!

Otway Fly

Ever wanted to find yourself high above Australia’s quintessential tree, the eucalyptus? Then the Otways is your place to be. You can climb high up into the forest canopy at the Otway Fly’s treetop walk before taking part in a spot of heart-pumping zip lining!

That kind of adventure is the perfect way to top off your unforgettable Otways experience…
