2 Day Great Ocean Road & Phillip Island Tour Itinerary
The 2 Day Great Ocean Road and Phillip Island Tour combines both of Melbourne’s most popular one day tours, with an overnight stop in the coastal resort town Queenscliff.
Day One (lunch, dinner)
Heading out of Melbourne we travel over the Westgate Bridge to Colac Park for some morning tea. We start the tour of the Great Ocean Road at the 12 Apostles, taking in the beautiful collection of limestone stacks just offshore, along the Shipwreck Coast. Climb down the Gibson Steps to take a walk along the beach (time permitting), view the Archway, The Razorback and the Dumpling Pots. Hear the tragic history as our guide retells the tale of Australia’s most famous Shipwreck – The Loch Ard Gorge.
Take a guided walk at Mait’s Rest through a very rare, ancient, cool temperate rainforest at the Otway National Park, and then on to the cute seaside town of Lorne for some lunch. Spot some koalas, kookaburra and parrots at with a coastal wildlife walk, and go for wander along the pier, exploring the township of Lorne. Visit the Split Point Lighthouse, made famous by the TV show ‘Round the Twist’. Have a delicious dinner at our accommodation for the night in Queenscliff.
Day Two (breakfast)
Wake up to a delightful breakfast to start the second day of this Great Ocean Road and Phillip Island Tour. We board the Queenscliff to Sorrento Ferry to sail to the other side of Port Phillip Bay – keep an eye out for seals and dolphins who find their home in the waters here. Once back on land, we spend the morning exploring the Mornington Peninsula.
Visit an Australian wildlife park and come face-to-face to koalas, kangaroos, wallabies and an abundance of birdlife. Be blown away by the rugged surf beaches of Phillip Island, as we travel across the island. Do some seal spotting at Seal Rocks, check out the new marine centre at the Nobbies and stroll the boardwalk to view the majestic rocky coast. Then the highlight of the second day – The Penguin Parade. This magical procession of little penguins coming ashore is an unforgettable experience.
Once the penguins have safely made it back to their sand dune burrows, we’ll head back to Melbourne.
