· Allenvale Mill Bush Campground offers free camping and is great for families. You can take a scenic hike to Lorne Waterfalls, where you can enjoy some relaxing swimming. The large trees surrounding this campground block out any traffic noises from the Great Ocean Road.

· Jamieson Creek Campground is the perfect option to escape crowds and be immersed in nature. You can choose to sleep under the stars or in a caravan.

· Stevensons Falls is a great location for free camping. Bring your furry friend and sit around the campfire after spending the day hiking. The campground is located near a waterfall, which is worth checking out before continuing along the Great Ocean Road.

· Aire Crossing Campsite is located in the Great Otway National Park. This free campsite offers bush camping if you prefer to set up near the river. Be sure to secure your food so nearby critters don’t find it.

Best time of year to camp along the Great Ocean Road

The best time of year to camp along the Great Ocean Road is typically in the spring and the fall. Though the summer months are a great time to camp, there will be larger crowds. If you choose to camp between December and February in peak season, be sure to reserve your spot ahead of time!

From June to August, there may be less swimming available, but it is still a great time to camp and enjoy smaller crowds.

· Memorial Arch is located near the town of Lorne and is a sign at the beginning of the epic highway.

· Take a walk at Kennett River, located near Otway National Park to try and spot koalas.

· Loch Ard Gorge is a picturesque pit stop to see a small coastal inlet surrounded by towering limestone cliffs.
