Exploring the Uniqueness of the Great Ocean Road

There is no other place in Australia like the Great Ocean Road!

With an abundance of wildlife and plant life surrounding this well-travelled route, it truly is a highlight of the Victorian South Coast.

Unique photos

There’s plenty of opportunity for great photos! With plenty of scenery offering sweeping views of the whole ocean. Make sure you check out a sunrise or a sunset along the Great Ocean Road. For an orange glow that showers the dramatic jagged cliffs with warm golden rays, you’ll snap photos that are screen-saver worthy.

The road is windy and goes up and down the different hills, allowing plenty of different viewpoints that make for some perfect photos. If you’re lucky enough to visit during a super sunny period, then the ocean oozes rich blues, making for incredible photos.

Make sure you grab a snap underneath the Memorial Arch! It’s an iconic spot for a photo.

The biggest war memorial in the world

Did you know the Great Ocean Road is a big war memorial? There’s an interesting history behind the origins of the Great Ocean Road. The war was built as a commemoration of the soldiers who fell during the WW1. The soldiers who returned from the war helped to build the road as part of a recovery programme.

Twelve Apostles

The most popular and iconic part of the Great Ocean Road is the Twelve Apostles. Seeing the Twelve Apostles is a must-do on the Great Ocean Road! These rock formations are completely unique. These sandstone rocks are fascinating to look at! There are several places to view the Twelve Apostles, so you’ll be able to see this magnificent rock formation from different angles. One of our favourite viewing spots is at the top of the Gibson Steps.

And just down the road from the Twelve Apostles is the Bay of Islands! Visit here for another view of unique and interesting rock formations.
