The seaside town of Torquay is located right at the start of Victoria’s coastal shoreline, dubbed the gateway into the iconic Great Ocean Road. But before heading off onto this epic road, why not stay and spend some time at this laidback coastal town? With the town’s Nightjar festival well worth a night’s accommodation.
About the Nightjar festival
The Nightjar Festival is celebrating its tenth birthday this coming January, with 2020 marking a century since two Torquay locals Kyla Vinton and Lyndelle Flintoft began the festival. Bringing together the local music, culinary delights, and arts and crafts the Victorian coast has to offer. Bringing together emerging designers, local producers, and both and contemporary artists from all over Australia. Running from the 2nd of January every Thursday night, from 4 pm until 10 pm.

Food and Drink
This vibrant night festival has countless cuisines to choose from! Regardless of your tastebuds, you’ll find something to satisfy you here, from burger and chip food stalls, Asian varieties, and even sweet treats on offer. Noteworthy stalls to look out for include some of Torquay’s best food shops, including the mouth-watering Babaji’s Kitchen, Dutch Poffertjes, and Drums Café. For the drink’s menu, you will find the delicious Prickly Moses beer from Otway Brewery, as well as the local lemonade stand. Bring your own picnic rug and set up along the beach for a picture-perfect view to go with your dinner.

The local art and crafts unique to Victoria’s coastal region is also up for grabs. Wander from stall to stall and meet the local artists and designers while they proudly tell you of their unique creations. From second-hand fashion items, stunning jewelry, to homemade bath and body items.
