The magnificent 12 Apostles and stylish Lorne are just two of the wonderful attractions of the incredible Great Ocean Road.

Lorne, Great Ocean Road

Whether you’re traversing the Port Campbell National Park, where you will find the 12 Apostles, alongside other marvellous natural formations, or hanging around the voguish town of Lorne, both experiences provide a great juxtaposition to one another!

What makes seeing both the 12 Apostles and Lorne so fantastic is the fact that the 12 Apostles are a cheeky hour-and-a-half drive from Lorne, and you can easily get out to the national park just by taking the backroad that leads away from the Great Ocean Road and back to down to the coast.

So, now that we’ve got drive times out of the way, here are some of the things that make the 12 Apostles and Lorne such wonderful stops along the spectacular Great Ocean Road!

The 12 Apostles & other natural beauty

The 12 Apostles is easily one of Victoria’s most recognisable tourist attractions: a series of 12 gigantic limestone rocks jutting out of the wild waters of the Bass Strait below! Budding travellers flock to the viewing points, eager to get a great look, and snap, of this most incredible natural occurrence.

What makes the 12 Apostles even better is that they are just one of the numerous amazing natural wonders in the Port Campbell National Park. Joining this beautiful series of limestone rocks is the picturesque Loch Ard Gorge, a giant gorge and inlet coming in from the sea, the Grotto, a surreal natural sinkhole and the London Bridge, another majestic rock formation, in the sea, caused by millions of years of erosion…

A charming day out at elegant Lorne

Lorne is one of Victoria’s most beloved towns: a stylish outpost located between the rolling waves and the forest beyond. A day at Lorne is always filled with fun, delicious food and plenty of relaxation, making it the perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Be sure to get down to the gorgeous foreshore, head out to the lush Erskine Falls, have a drink at the awesome Lorne Pavilion (view included) and check out the famous Aireys Inlet Lighthouse – filming location of the legendary Round the Twist.

They’re two fantastic places to see

Both the 12 Apostles and Lorne are two amazing draw cards of the most awe-inspiring Great Ocean Road – be sure to make it to both on your trip!
